Across the Middle East and North Africa, prisons, checkpoints and former clandestine sites of torture are at risk of destruction or deterioration. Erasing this past will prevent new generations from learning critical lessons and destroy opportunities to build a peaceful future in the region - and the world. To ensure this does not happen, regional members of the International Coalition of Sites of Conscience have created this pioneering region-wide digital map documenting these sites of human rights violations.
